MPhil / PhD admission 2018 - University of Jammu

Applications from eligible candidates on the prescribed forms are invited for the Combined Entrance Test  for admission to M.Phil/Ph.D course for the Session 2018-19 as per vacancies shown against each Department (University of Jammu ) in the Annexure l&2.




The candidates shall apply to the concerned P.G. Department after having detailed information regarding  the availability of number of seats along-with specialization. Students desirous of being enrolled as M.Phil/Ph.D candidates will indicate their-preference for either of the two courses in the application form There shall be 8% reservation for SC/ST categories each & 3% for persons with Disabilities (Resolution No.74.08 of' University Council). A candidate shall be eligible for enrollment to the M.Phil/Ph.D, if he/she has obtajnid Masters Degree with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD  Candidates) in the Programme in which he/she desires to work for M.phil/Ph.D.

The candidate seeking admission to Ph.D Programme shall have to undergo Entrance Test, Candidates seeking admission to M.Phil Programme ( except those who have qualified NET/ SET / SLET / GATE with JRF)/ UGC- CISR (including JRF)  or those who have qualified NET / SET / SLET /GATE with 80 percentile/ teachers Fellowship holder) shall have to undergo Entrance Test (Subject to the availability of seats after:the admission of the candidates under Exempted Category), A candidate shall be  required to obtain minimum 50% marts in the entrance test that shall be considered as the eligibility for further processing of:the case of the candidate.

The candidates who have appeared in M.A/M.Sc/M.Com 4th semester/final examination can also apply for combined entrance test for M.Phil/Ph.D and their case will be considered only if their result is declared at the time of determining of Merit.




The merit of:the candidate shall be calculated on the basis of 50% weight age to the Entrance Test and 50%  weight age to the Academic Merit of the candidates at the P.G  Level and interview for the allotment of supervisor of the selected candidates. The syllabus and details about the conduct of Entrance Test shall be provided by. the HOD concerned.

Application Form/s can be obtained from the Forms and Stationary Section / Sale Counter on cash payment  Rs. 200/- or. Can also be downloaded from the University website. Those who submit the.downloaded application form shall be required to enclose Bank Draft/Indian Postal Order favouring Registrar, University of Jammu amounting to Rs. 200/- or J&K Bank Cash Receipt. Last date to submit the form in the respective Teaching Department/s of the University is 31.07.2018.
